Day 163—Monday, June 22nd, 2010
Press Lounge (Rooftop bar at Ink 48 Hotel)I felt somewhat defeated by last Friday’s crawl and thought I’d try the rooftop bar, Press Lounge on a Monday. Monday’s are usually pretty dead everywhere, so we’ll see if there’s no line tonight. And besides, I’ve got the backup bar, Lansdowne Road on 44th and 10th, that a reader commented about. The Lansdowne is also approved by barcrawler extroadinaire (along with Smoopy and Terry) Gene, so if I don’t use it as a backup, I will stop by there soon. Okay, let’s retrace our steps from last Friday.
Another night, another cab. Deja view, it feels like Friday all over again.
No traffic jams tonight, but it is red out here!
And here we are at the Ink 48 Hotel.
No lines tonight, I'm the only one at the elevator.
Going up.
And here we are, the 16th floor.
The inside bar is nice.
And friendly bartenders. Michah uncorks a beer for me.
Cheers!
Cocktail waitress Michah gets a lovely leg up on the competition! Is everyone here named Michah?
I'm willing to bet this is the only bar in Manhattan with two Michah's working in it.
There's comfortable couches opposite the bar to relax and enjoy your drink at.
Kimberly is another friendly and pretty cocktail waitress on duty.
And here's the outside lounge.
There's lounge chairs to relax in.
And the view is spectacular.
However people out there were a little camera shy, so I brought my act back to the inside bar. Here's Mike the bartender posing with the 365 Bar card.
Dan was in town from L.A. on business and had a seven o'clock meeting in the morning. Ouch!
Sungkyung and Carla were seated next to me and they live in the neighborhood.
We rode the elevator down together after last call.
It's been a while since I had a taxi cab movie. So here you go, goodnight everybody!
ReviewThe inside bar is a comfortable lounge with a modern art deco lounge feel. The bartenders and attractive cocktail waitresses are friendly and the crowd is a mix of hotel tourists and locals looking for a room with a view. And the view here is fantastic. As you step out into the rooftop lounge adjascent to the bar you can see the Manhattan skyline in all its sparkly glory. There’s comfortable lounge chairs and couches out on the rooftop lounge and a long wading pool for those that want to soak their feet and enjoy a drink after a long day.
There’s a nice wine list available and bottled beers include: Brooklyn Lager, Chimay Trappist, Ommegang Witte and Samuel Smith Organci Lager. Signature cocktails are: Jummai Sky which is Tanqeray 10, St. Germain and Tozai Junmai Sake; The Nectar is Moect and Chandon Nectoar Imperial Champagne and Lime and White Sangria.
Your cares really do drift away up on the roof, especially after four or five beers. Cheers!

That looks like a very fun and relaxing place to imbibe.
What a lovely rooftop bar.
Great job Marty!
Why am I thinking "Legs" by ZZ Top right now? Michah (the waitress) is my favorite bar babe so far! Glad you crawled back!
great view and a great bar!
Cool glowing boxes on the walls! But I've never heard of the Kimptons or their hotels before. Unless they have hot slutty offspring, I don't pay a lick of attention. Maybe I shouldn't have said lick.
You are right, Biff,,,,those glowing boxes on the wall are cool,,,with wine glasses in some of them,,,a very original idea. Michah the waitress has propelled to the top ten hot list. Also those recliners outside,,,a few of those martini's and a recliner and its adios amigo, nite nite, sleepy time time. Any one like Cream?
Seemed like a great evening for a rooftop outing!
Michah's (the waitress) smile lights up the room.
Absolutely radiant!
Love the decor and the casual Monday night crowd.
A perfect place to go unwind.
"Boris"
PS
In addition to Michah's beautiful smile, I love the Ink 48 logo.
With Michah and Kimberly around...it would be a a spectacular view even if this bar was in the basement! And Michah with her leg in the air...ooh la LAAAA! Just picture me as that country wolf in the 'Little Red Hot Riding Hood' You Tube cartoon I sent you a while back.
Very pretty bar. Much more soothing than the neon lights of sushi samba. And the waiters aren't bad either. I'm sad you didn't try out the wading pool!
@kari: I would've tried the wading pool, but the sad fact is that after eight hours of work, my feet smell rather badly when the boots come off. What's a fellow to do?
@Marty: Odor eaters!
that view does look fantastic, but I think on a busy night I would be very uncomfortable in a place like that!
I didn't read anything since I can't keep my eyes open , sorry .
@JHwang: I'll read your comment later, I'm napping now.
Lansdowne Road...the ice bar!!! You gotta go Marty... and Gene should be impressed that I can remember the place : )
@Smoopy: I'm either going this week or the next, stay tuned!
@365 Beers, stinky feet + water = clean feet. I don't see the problem :)
@kari: You're right! I need to bring you on board as my technical advisor!
OK, I really liked this one because of the view. Mainly because of the view. :)
Hey Jason.....Tell Zioum to climb off your face......then your eyes will open again! Watching that delicious Michah.....I was reminded of that old Robin Trower song.....Bridge of Thighs. I would love to sip a Dirty Martini......slip into one of those recliners and have Michah's Bridge of thighs awaken me!
Marty ... don't forget Lilly O'Brien's on a Monday. I know "Will" works there that day -- but I forget the other nights he said? That's what happens after 748 beers in one day !
@GENE: I'll try there next Monday. 748 beers in one night? That must have been a slow one for you!
Marty ... I'm not proud of that night :(
The rooftop patio makes that place, it seems like there would a cover for a place like that. Oh yah and Michah's got legs and she knows how to use them!
