Day 104—Friday, April 23rd, 2010

New York Sports Bar (in the LaGuardia airport)

Okay, today’s going to be a bit of a quickety blickety blog as I’m traveling to my hometown of Peoria, Illinois. Another road trip, woo hoo! So I’m hoping to hit an airport bar at LaGuardia airport this morning, because by the time I get back to Peoria I’ll be beat. It’s six in the morning as I type this and I’m usually going to bed now. So let’s make tracks to LaGuardia airport!

And look at that, here we are! Time to find a bar!

This one looks good, let's check it out.

Please order at the bar. Don't mind if I do!

Aaahh! The breakfast of champions!

Looks like I'm the only early morning drinker today. That's okay, more for me!

Leo the bartender uncorks a breakfast Corona for me. Leo was a great bartender and he's moving to Sweden soon. Maybe he'll send us some photos of bars in Sweden. How about it, Leo?

Cheers!

Okay, now the bar is starting to fill up. Let's check out to see who's at the end of the bar.

Shit I gotta go, my flight is taking off soon!

Up, up and away! Goodnight everybody...or, good morning, or...whatever!

Review

I had a nice few early morning Corona’s here and like I say, airport bars are non-judgemental drinking zones. Someday I’ll have to come out here when I’m not flying and properly review a bar out here. Today’s not that day though, my plane takes off in about twenty minutes, so I gotta run! Sneeze you in Peoria tomorrow!

I don’t know the phone number but it’s near the D Gate check in area. I hope I get through security!

Airport bar at 6 A.M, drinking a few coronas before getting on a plane is pushing it as far as the streak goes. Borderline if that should count as part of the streak. Start over??

haha...your post reminds me of a few years ago when a girl friend and I went to Jamaica for a week. We had an early morning flight out of Omaha NE and had started the vacation about 8 pm the night before (bar) crawling our way the 3-4 hour drive to Omaha during the night. We arrived in the wee early hours and after getting all checked in and arriving at our gate we noticed an illuminated Corona sign...we had an acronym for our vacation requirements ("S"un, "W"ater, "A"lcohol) SWA. So we mosied(sp?) up to the bar and ordered a couple beers and as we sat enjoying our breakfast beers~looking out the windows at the airport "going's on" there stood a guy with his back to us with the letters "SWA" ! (coincidence? I think not, of course we knew it was Southwest Airlines but we chose to ignore that fact). We knew it was a sign of a great vacation ahead of us.
PS: Bonus was the flight attendant who spilt on us and comped us drinks the entire flight. Then the cute young guy who got such a kick out of a couple of silly drunk "cougars" that he followed us to the FOX Sports bar in Houston and bought us each a beer there too. and YES we had a wonderful time in Jamaica! I could/should write a book about that! ; ^ )

I never fully appreciated Peoria until I left, but I suppose that's human nature. If you're in the area, hit up Red Barn, my house was at the end of the street (West Clara Avenue, off Knoxville, Sheridan, Glen Avenue), and even though my wife and I only got to go out twice during our Peoria tour (we had a baby give us a break...okay she had a baby but I SAW IT COME OUT OF HER WITH MY OWN EYES), Red Barn was a firm, cliched, under-aged drinkers favourite. Also, the blog is super-duper awesome, I read every day. Clock out!

I hesitated the last time I came in NYC to drink alcohol before to get into the plane, but I thought I shouln't because with stress I get drunk even with 1 beer !! and I already get weird behavior and weird OCD, so if I drink alcohol, it would be worst and I wouldn't get in troubles with FBI !! haha

To come in US from Europe, they do a body & bag frisk, and I put my 2 pokemon toys in my pocket, then they asked me "what's that????" I took my 2 friends out of my pocket and answered: they are bluepoke and pinkpoke my 2 pokemon lucky charm!! They looked at me weird but laughed. Then they found in my bag my teddy "Titi Bleu" and I told them I took him with me in the cabine because I was scared he got bored in the checked baggage !!! They laughed and told me to have fun with all my friends and I'm sure they thought I was a psycho-nuts woman !!

So, what would happen if I drink alcohol ???? :D Maybe to stuck a feather in my ass and tell them it's to fly like a bird in case the plane crash???? hahahahahaaaaa !!!!!

(oops, I'm a little drunk right now!! Jason went to take a nap and so I"m drinkikg beer ! It's only one 35oz bottle Jason !! lmao!)

Little do they know that the 2 little bluepoke and pinkpoke pokemon toys are plastic explosives & Titi Bleu is in on it . Just joking ZioumZioum

The "food" underneath those beers looks disgusting! I'm glad you stuck with the liquid breakfast.

Marty, I would like to bring my Titi Bleu in one of the bar crawl, I'm sure he will like (yes my teddy loves beer!!!) But Jason laughed at me when I told him and he told me he would act like he don't know me if I do it !! So anyway, i'm going to do it if you accept !!

Just NOT Joking Jason !!!! :D hahahahahaha! sorry but you got in relationship with a nuts !!!!!!! LOL ;)
